Faith in Action
FAITH IN ACTION
At St. Mary’s we believe that our faith in Jesus compels us to action. We follow the principles of Catholic Social Teaching which help guide our actions.
The pupils of St. Mary’s Catholic Primary School are encouraged and supported to love our global neighbours, fight for justice and peace, look after the world we live in and give to the poor. Pope Francis says we should work for the good of all people and at St. Mary’s, we believe we are doing just that.
Our Faith In Action group consists of two Faith In Action Ambassadors from each KS2 class. These children have been chosen by their peers to take a leading role in developing the Catholic Life of our school. last year, our ambassadors worked closely with Mrs Sayers. They helped update the Prayer & Liturgy areas around school, organised five Lenten fundraisers, wrote to local businesses for raffle prizes and helped deliver a Live Simply assembly to the whole school.
During the summer term, the children worked with Mrs Sayers to create some storytelling props for the Nursery and Reception children. These will be used by the staff and the children during RE lessons as well as during continuous provision.
For the Autumn term, the group will be lead by Mrs Greenall, and then in the Spring and Summer by Mrs Joyce and Miss Rankin. So far this term, the children have evaluated our Mission Statement and drawn pictures to represent it, made cards to thank and celebrate our staff, made a prayer bag for each class and also made bird feeders. This is a very enthusiastic group of young people, wanting to live out their faith and share it in multiple ways with others.
