August 2020

Dear parents/carers

re : September opening

I hope you are all enjoying the summer break as much as is possible. I know life is very different this summer, as it has been since March, but I do hope you are managing to make the most of your time together.

As you will be aware, schools are expected to reopen to all children in September and we are very excited at the prospect of welcoming all of our children back. We have missed them so much!

We have been given very clear guidance from the Government in terms of what school needs to look like and be like in September to ensure we are ‘Covid secure’ and school is as safe as possible for all children and staff. Therefore, I am currently devising a protocol with everything you need to know for the start of the new school year. Along with the updated risk assessment which I will also send, I do hope this provides any reassurance needed that school will be a very safe place for your child/ren to return to. To enable this to happen, things in school will be very different to the old ‘normal’.

As the Government guidelines are updated on a regular basis, I am going to wait to send the information to you until next week. I would like to avoid, as far as is possible, sending one set of guidelines and then having to update them before the start of term. There is a lot of information to digest, especially if it the first time your child/ren will have been in school since March and the last thing I want to do is cause any confusion.

As we are all too aware, these are very challenging times and I sincerely hope and pray that you and your family are keeping well. Thank you for your understanding of the current situation.

Stay safe, God bless

Mrs O’Mahony
